Asko's Logic and heat-pump dryers report faults as Error followed by a number, with the description available by holding the INFO button. The published table is short and unusually blunt: almost everything on it goes to service. Here it is, with Asko's own wording.
The Fault Table
- E0 – display text asks you to check the user manual or call service. Stated meaning: control unit failure. Action: call the service centre.
- E1 – thermistor fault. Stated meaning: temperature sensor failure. Action: call the service centre.
- E2 – stated meaning: communication error. Action: call the service centre.
- E3 – pump failure. Stated meaning: failure on the pump that moves the condensate into the condensate tank. Action: call the service centre.
- E4 – display text asks you to clean the filters or call service. Action: clean the filters as described in the cleaning and maintenance chapter, or call service. This is the one code on the list with an owner action attached.
- E6 – relay failure. Stated meaning: control unit failure. Action: call the service centre.
- E7 – door failure. Stated meaning: control unit failure. Action: call the service centre.
- E8 – button failure. Stated meaning: control unit failure. Action: call the service centre.
- E9 – the board and user-interface software versions are not compatible. Action: call the service centre.
There is no E5 in the Asko dryer table. If you find a list somewhere that assigns one a meaning, that list is not working from the manual.
Reading E4 Properly
E4 asks for filters in the plural, and that is deliberate. On a heat-pump or condenser machine there is the door filter you clear every cycle and there is the condenser unit behind the lower access panel, and clearing only the first one is why E4 sometimes comes straight back. Switch the dryer off and unplug it, then let it stand until it is cool before opening the lower access, because the exchanger area stays warm after a cycle. The Messages That Are Not Faults
Asko's dryers also display a set of plain-language prompts that owners regularly report as errors. Quoted from the manual, they include: steam tank is empty, please fill water; steam tank full; please close the door before pressing start; option not available at this phase of cycle; cycle was interrupted by power failure, please resume; please empty the tank before resuming a cycle; clean door filter; clean the condenser unit; please empty the water tank and clean door filter; and child lock is on, press buttons for three seconds to unlock.
None of those is a fault. Several of them – the tank, the door filter, the condenser – are maintenance requests the machine is entitled to make. The child lock one in particular accounts for a lot of calls about a dryer that will not respond to its buttons.
The Older Machines
The TD60 platform used F-codes on one panel variant and indicator lights on another. F1 is the condensation water tank being full, with the action given as emptying the container and restarting the machine. F2 is the maximum permitted programme time being reached, with a published action covering the condensate container, the fluff filter, the condenser and the room the dryer is standing in. Later condenser machines including the TD70 and TDC44 families show plain-language messages instead of codes: Over flow, Max Program Time, Thermistor fault, Clean condenser, Clean Lint Filter and, on the TDC44, Sensor fault for a humidity sensor problem. Asko's documented reset for those is to switch the machine off at the main power switch after carrying out the corrective action.
What to Bring
Photograph the display, and on a Logic machine hold INFO and photograph the description too. A code with its description removes most of the guesswork before anyone arrives. Book an Asko dryer repair with the code, the model plate and a note of when in the cycle it appeared.
