What F2 Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: F2 is a TD60-generation code on the panel Asko's service manual calls panel type 1, used on the TD60.1. It is not part of the Logic and heat-pump E-series. On panel type 2 the same condition is shown by "the light above the start button" flashing instead of a code.
WHAT F2 MEANS: the service manual's cause column reads "Maximum permitted programme time reached." The dryer has been running for as long as it is allowed to run without the load reaching the dryness it was asked for, so it stops. The load is usually still damp.
ASKO'S PUBLISHED ACTION, QUOTED IN FULL BECAUSE THE LAST PART IS UNUSUAL: "Empty the condensed water container and check that neither the fluff filter nor the condenser are clogged. Overly long drying times may also be due to the tumble dryer being located in a confined area or room that is too small, causing the air to become too hot. Make sure that the tumble dryer has access to more cold air, e.g. by opening doors and/or windows." A condenser dryer cools the moist air using room air, so a dryer in a small closed utility room or a cupboard gradually heats its own surroundings until it can no longer condense properly.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the machine cool before you start, because the fluff filter housing and the condenser are warm at the end of a long cycle. Then work through Asko's list in order. Empty the condensed water container and refit it squarely. Take out the fluff filter, peel the lint off, and wash the mesh under a tap to remove the fabric softener film that blocks air while still looking clean - then dry it before refitting. Clean the condenser as your model's manual describes, rinsing it through and refitting it properly. Finally, look at where the machine lives: a dryer in a small closed room or a cupboard recirculates its own warm air and loses the cool air it needs to condense, which is exactly what Asko describes. Open the door or a window, or improve the ventilation of the space, and run a load to compare. Reducing load size also shortens cycles and is worth trying on a machine that is only just failing to finish.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The fluff filter housing and the condenser are warm at the end of a long cycle, so the machine is left to cool before either is removed.
- None of the listed actions requires opening the machine; if the code persists with clean filters, a clean condenser and good ventilation, that is the point at which it becomes a service matter.
