What E0 Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the E-series belongs to the Asko Logic and heat-pump tumble dryers - the T408HD, T410HD, T608HX and their siblings. On these the display shows "Error" and a number together with a short line of text, and holding the INFO button brings up the description. The older TD60-generation condenser dryers do not use E-codes at all; the TD60.1 panel shows F1 and F2, which are separate entries here, and the TD60.2, TD60.3, TD70 and TDC44 machines show plain-language messages instead of codes.
WHAT E0 MEANS: the line on the display is "E0 - Please check user manuals or call service." The description in Asko's table is "Control unit failure", and the published action is "Call service centre."
WHAT THAT IS AND IS NOT TELLING YOU: the control unit is the board that runs the dryer - it drives the drum, the heating and the fan, and reads every sensor. Asko does not publish which part of it has failed, only that it has. That is a genuine limit on what can be said from the code alone, and it is why the manufacturer sends you straight to service with no owner check in front of it.
WHAT IS WORTH KNOWING ABOUT THIS FAMILY OF CODES: Asko gives the same description, "Control unit failure", to E0, E6, E7 and E8, even though the display text for each is different - relay failure for E6, door failure for E7, button failure for E8. The number tells the technician which part of the board's work reported the problem; the description tells you where the fault is.

The one thing worth trying, because it costs nothing and is standard practice for any control fault, is a complete power-down: switch the dryer off at the outlet or the breaker, leave it for a minute so the board loses power entirely rather than resting in standby, then restore power and start a cycle. If E0 returns, it is a service call and Asko says so directly. Before you call, note whether the dryer had been doing anything unusual - whether the code appears at start-up or partway through a cycle, whether the drum turned at all, whether it heated - and note the model and serial number from the plate in the door aperture. Do not remove panels: the control board and its wiring carry mains voltage, and on a heat-pump dryer the refrigerant circuit is behind the same panels.
