What E37 Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the E-series belongs to the Asko Logic, Pro Home, Craft and Elements washers - models such as W2084, W4086, W6088X and the WM75 series. On these the display shows "Error" and the number; holding the INFO button brings up the description text, and EXIT returns to the main menu. The earlier W6xxx machines do not use E-codes at all; they show F10, F11 and F12, which are separate entries here.
WHAT E37 MEANS: Asko's own wording is "PMCU/UI software versions are not compatible." PMCU is the power module and control unit; UI is the user interface board. The two boards each carry their own software, and this code says the versions do not match in a way the machine will accept. The published action is "Please call a service technician." There is no restart step, and that absence is itself informative - a version mismatch does not clear by being switched off and on.
WHEN THIS TENDS TO APPEAR: after one of the two boards has been replaced, or after a software update has reached one board and not the other. On a machine that has never been worked on it is uncommon.
WHAT IT IS NOT: a mechanical fault. Nothing in the wash, drain, spin or heating path is implicated by this code.
CLASSIFICATION: fault, in the machine's own software configuration. It needs the right tools and the right versions rather than parts.

- One of the two boards replaced with a unit carrying a different software version
- Software update applied to one board and not the other
- Replacement board supplied unprogrammed or programmed for a different model
- Configuration lost from one of the boards
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There is no owner action here - Asko does not even offer the usual restart for this code, because a version mismatch is not a transient condition. What helps is history, and it helps a great deal: if either board has been replaced, or the machine has had any work done on its electronics, say so when you call, because that is almost certainly what this is about and it changes what the technician brings. Note the model number and the serial number from the plate - usually on the door aperture or the rear panel - since board software is matched to a specific model and production range. Switch the machine off at the outlet or the breaker while it waits. Do not buy a replacement board on the strength of this code: the wrong version is exactly what caused it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Asko publishes no owner action for this code at all, not even the power cycle it gives for the other communication errors.
- Fitting another board without matching versions is how this fault is created in the first place, so buying parts on the strength of the code makes it worse.
