What E33 Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the E-series belongs to the Asko Logic, Pro Home, Craft and Elements washers - models such as W2084, W4086, W6088X and the WM75 series. On these the display shows "Error" and the number; holding the INFO button brings up the description text, and EXIT returns to the main menu. The earlier W6xxx machines do not use E-codes at all; they show F10, F11 and F12, which are separate entries here.
WHICH MACHINES SPECIFICALLY: the Asko washers fitted with the Auto Dose System. AD1 is Asko's own label for the first of the two dosing containers.
WHAT E33 MEANS: the description text is "AD1 DETERGENT LEVEL SENSOR ERROR". The level sensor is what lets the machine tell you how much detergent is left and warn you before a container runs dry. Asko's published action is to restart the programme, and to call a service technician if it repeats.
WHAT IT AFFECTS AND WHAT IT DOES NOT: this is the measurement of the level, not the dosing itself. The pumps have their own codes, E31 and E32. A level sensor fault means the machine has lost track of how much is in the container - it does not necessarily mean nothing is being dosed.
CLASSIFICATION: fault, in the dosing system's monitoring. The wash is unaffected, and a restart is the manufacturer's first response.
Common Causes of E33
- Level sensor in the AD1 container failed
- Container not seated correctly, so the sensor cannot read it
- Dried detergent fouling the sensor area
- Container overfilled above its mark
- Wiring or connector to the sensor damaged
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Restart the programme, which is what the manual asks, and before you do, check the ordinary things: that the container is seated fully and its cap closed squarely, that it has not been overfilled above its mark, and that there is no dried detergent around the neck or the sensor area holding it out of position. If it has been refilled with a different product recently, note that - a much thicker or a much thinner liquid than the one before can change what a level sensor sees. If the error returns after a restart, Asko's instruction is to call. In the meantime the machine will wash normally with detergent dosed by hand into the manual drawer. Do not open the dispenser housing: it is inside the front of the cabinet with its wiring in the mains loom.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensing hardware is inside the cabinet with the machine's mains wiring, so it is not opened with the washer connected to power.
- Asko's published escalation for this code is a restart and then a service call, not a disassembly.
