What E35 Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the E-series belongs to the Asko Logic, Pro Home, Craft and Elements washers - models such as W2084, W4086, W6088X and the WM75 series. On these the display shows "Error" and the number; holding the INFO button brings up the description text, and EXIT returns to the main menu. The earlier W6xxx machines do not use E-codes at all; they show F10, F11 and F12, which are separate entries here.
WHICH MACHINES SPECIFICALLY: the Asko washers fitted with the Auto Dose System.
WHAT E35 MEANS: the description text is "COMMUNICATION AD AND PMCU". AD is the Auto Dose module; PMCU is the power module and control unit, the board that runs the machine. The code means those two have stopped talking to each other reliably. Asko's published action is to turn the appliance off and on again, and to call a service technician if it repeats.
WHY A POWER CYCLE IS THE FIRST RESPONSE: communication faults between two boards are the kind of thing that can be transient - a disturbance, a handshake that did not complete at start-up - and a full power-down is the only way to make both ends begin again from scratch. If the fault is a connector or a board, it comes straight back.
CLASSIFICATION: fault. The washing side of the machine is not what has failed here.
Common Causes of E35
- Connector between the Auto Dose module and the control unit loose or corroded
- Wiring harness between the two boards damaged
- Auto Dose module faulty
- Power module and control unit faulty
- Transient disturbance at start-up that a full power-down clears
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn the appliance off and then on again, which is the published instruction. Do it properly: switch it off at the machine, and if the code returns immediately, switch it off at the outlet or the breaker for a minute so both boards lose power completely rather than sitting in standby. Start a programme and see whether it holds. If the error comes back, that is the end of the owner's side - the two boards and the loom between them are inside the cabinet, and Asko's instruction is to call a service technician. What is worth noting before the visit: whether the fault appeared after the machine was moved, after a power cut, or after the Auto Dose containers were last removed, since all three disturb connectors.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Both boards and the harness between them are inside the cabinet, carrying mains voltage whenever the machine is connected to power.
- Asko's published escalation is a power cycle and then a service call, with nothing in between for an owner to open.
