What E29 Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the E-series belongs to the Asko Logic, Pro Home, Craft and Elements washers - models such as W2084, W4086, W6088X and the WM75 series. On these the display shows "Error" and the number; holding the INFO button brings up the description text, and EXIT returns to the main menu. The earlier W6xxx machines do not use E-codes at all; they show F10, F11 and F12, which are separate entries here.
WHICH MACHINES SPECIFICALLY: E29 belongs to the Asko washers fitted with the Auto Dose System, the arrangement that holds bulk detergent and softener in refillable containers and doses each wash automatically. A machine without Auto Dose does not have the hardware this code refers to.
WHAT E29 MEANS: the description text is "REED SWITCH 1 ERROR". A reed switch is a small magnetic sensor - in this system it is how the machine knows the state of one of the dosing containers or its cap. Asko's published action is one line, with no owner check in front of it: "Call a service technician."
WHAT ASKO HAS NOT PUBLISHED: which physical container or component reed switch 1 corresponds to. We are not going to assign it to one, because the manual does not.
CLASSIFICATION: fault, in the dosing system rather than in the washing side of the machine.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Asko publishes no owner action for this code beyond calling a technician, so the honest advice is not to go hunting. What is worth doing before the visit is the ordinary care the Auto Dose containers need anyway, because it costs nothing and rules out the simple explanations: check both containers are seated properly and their caps are closed fully and squarely, and look at whether either has been overfilled or has dried detergent around the neck. Note whether the machine has started dosing incorrectly - too much, too little or not at all - and whether the fault appeared after the containers were last refilled or removed for cleaning. Do not dismantle the dispenser housing: it sits in the front of the cabinet with its wiring in the same loom as the rest of the machine, which has to be isolated at the outlet or the breaker before anything is opened.
