A washing machine that sits with the door locked and nothing happening has usually decided it is not getting water. Asko documents this fault on both of its laundry code schemes, and in both cases the published action is written for the owner rather than for a technician.
On Logic-Generation Machines: E3
The Logic, Pro Home and related generations show Error followed by a number, and holding the INFO button spells the fault out. E3 is WATER FILLING ERROR. Asko's published checks are four:
- Is the water inlet valve open.
- Is the filter on the water inlet hose clean.
- Is the water supply hose deformed, clipped or clogged.
- Is the pressure in the water mains between 0.1 and 1 MPa, which is 0.1 to 10 bar.
After that, the manual says to press the Exit button to resume the program, and to call a service technician if the error returns.
On the Older W6000 Machines: F12
The earlier generation uses F12, Water inlet fault, and Asko prints a seven-step procedure for it. Read the safety condition first: shut off the water tap before anything else, and switch the machine off. Then unscrew the hose with a tray underneath, clean the filter in the inlet valve on the machine, screw the hose back on, turn the tap on and check for leaks, and run the program again to see whether the fault is fixed. If it is not, it goes to service. The published checks alongside are that the tap on the water pipe is open and that the filter in the machine's water inlet is not blocked.
Reading the Pattern Before You Start
Some detail collected in advance saves a visit:
- Does it fail on every program or only on hot ones. A machine fed from one supply that fails only when it wants a particular fill is telling you about one valve rather than about the supply.
- Does it depend on time of day. Intermittent filling faults that cluster when the household is using water are a pressure story.
- Was there recent plumbing work. A partially reopened isolating valve, or debris disturbed in the pipework and now sitting in the inlet filter, is a very common cause.
- Is the machine filling slowly rather than not at all. A slow fill that eventually completes still points at the same list, just earlier in its progression.
One Related Message Worth Knowing
E1 is THERMISTOR ERROR, a temperature sensor error, and Asko's published note alongside it is that the inlet water may be too cold, with the instruction to repeat the washing program and to call service if it happens again. It is a reminder that these machines heat from a cold fill and reason about the temperature they are getting.
Where It Stops Being an Owner Job
Inlet valves, flow meters, pressure sensors and the wiring between them are inside the cabinet, near mains voltage and alongside a live water connection. If the tap is fully open, the hose is clear, the inlet filter is clean and the supply pressure is within the published range, the next step is a diagnosis rather than another attempt. Book an Asko washer repair and say which code appeared, whether it was filling slowly or not at all, and whether hot and cold programs behave differently.
