What E11 Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the current Asko professional dryer platform - the TD75.C17 series, which covers the TD75.C17X, the TDC177XV, the TDC177 series and the TDC1773VP.S. Unlike the older commercial dryers, these machines report numbered E-codes, and the manual states the mechanism plainly: in the event of a failure while a programme is in progress the relevant error is shown on the display, and pressing and holding the INFO button displays the error description. That INFO gesture is the most useful thing to know about this platform, because it turns a bare number into a sentence without any code list at all.
WHAT THIS PLATFORM IS NOT: the TDC33 and TDC44 commercial dryers do not use E-codes. They print plain-worded messages, and those are separate entries here. Do not read a meaning from one platform onto the other.
THE GAPS IN THE SEQUENCE ARE REAL: the failure table on this platform runs E0, E1, E2, E6, E7, E8, E9, E10 and E11. There is no E3, E4 or E5 in it. Nothing should be invented to fill those spaces.
WHAT E11 MEANS: the failure display table gives the description "Motor communication error", with the action to call the service centre.
WHAT THAT DESCRIBES: the control and the motor are not exchanging information properly. On a machine of this generation the motor is not simply switched on and off - it is driven and monitored, and the control expects to be told what it is doing. E11 says that conversation has broken down. It does not say the motor has failed, and no such claim is made here.
WHY THAT DISTINCTION IS WORTH HOLDING ON TO: a communication fault and a failed motor produce the same stopped machine, and they are very different repairs. The code as Asko writes it names the communication, which is precisely why a technician measures before anything is replaced.
WHERE THIS CODE EXISTS: on this professional platform only. It is not in the domestic dryer failure table and not on the older TDC33 and TDC44 machines, which report faults in words rather than numbers. Along with E10, it is one of two codes on this platform that appear nowhere else in the Asko range.
WHAT YOU WILL SEE IN THE ROOM: a machine that stops, usually with a load in it, sometimes with a drum that had been turning normally until that moment.
CLASSIFICATION: fault. No owner check is published.
Common Causes of E11
- Harness or connector between the control and the motor damaged or disturbed
- Motor drive electronics faulty
- Motor failed or its feedback arrangement damaged
- Control unit not reading what the motor sends
- Vibration over long commercial service loosening a connection
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Get the load out and the machine out of service, then gather the detail while people still remember it. A complete power-down is worth one attempt - off at the breaker or wall isolator for a minute, then on - because a control that has hung and a link that has genuinely failed behave differently afterwards. If E11 returns, report it with what was happening: at what point in the cycle the machine stopped, whether the drum was turning, whether there was any noise or any smell of hot insulation, whether the machine had been moved or knocked, and how heavily it is used. A burning smell changes the urgency and should be said first. Put a notice on the machine so nobody loads it. Do not open the cabinet to look at the motor or its wiring - the harness is at mains voltage whenever the machine is fed, the motor drive on this generation is not something to probe, and on a heat-pump machine the sealed refrigerant circuit is behind the same panels.

- Asko publishes no owner check for this code on this platform - the action column says to call the service centre.
- The motor, its drive and its harness are inside a machine that is isolated at its breaker or wall isolator before anything is opened, and a professional dryer has no plug to pull.
- The control boards and their wiring carry mains voltage whenever the machine is fed, and on a heat-pump machine the sealed refrigerant circuit sits behind the same panels.
