What CHILD LOCK IS ON Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the current Asko professional dryer platform - the TD75.C17 series, which covers the TD75.C17X, the TDC177XV, the TDC177 series and the TDC1773VP.S. Unlike the older commercial dryers, these machines report numbered E-codes, and the manual states the mechanism plainly: in the event of a failure while a programme is in progress the relevant error is shown on the display, and pressing and holding the INFO button displays the error description. That INFO gesture is the most useful thing to know about this platform, because it turns a bare number into a sentence without any code list at all.
WHAT THIS PLATFORM IS NOT: the TDC33 and TDC44 commercial dryers do not use E-codes. They print plain-worded messages, and those are separate entries here. Do not read a meaning from one platform onto the other.
THE GAPS IN THE SEQUENCE ARE REAL: the failure table on this platform runs E0, E1, E2, E6, E7, E8, E9, E10 and E11. There is no E3, E4 or E5 in it. Nothing should be invented to fill those spaces.
WHAT THIS MESSAGE IS: a plain-worded message rather than a code. The machine tells you the child lock is on and that the way out of it is to press the buttons for three seconds to unlock.
WHY IT IS ON THIS SITE AT ALL: because from in front of the machine, a locked panel is indistinguishable from a broken one. Buttons do nothing, the programme will not start, and in a busy room the machine gets reported as faulty and taken out of service for no reason. The message is the machine telling you exactly what is wrong and exactly how to undo it, and it is worth reading before anybody picks up a telephone.
WHAT THE LOCK IS FOR IN A COMMERCIAL ROOM: it keeps a running machine from being interfered with - by children in a communal laundry, by guests in a hotel or by anybody passing a machine mid-cycle. On a professional dryer that is a sensible thing to have switched on, and rooms often have it on deliberately.
WHAT IT IS NOT: not a button failure. This platform has a numbered code for a genuine button fault, and it is a different entry here. If the three-second press does not release the panel, that is the distinction to make.
CLASSIFICATION: normal status. The machine is doing what it was set to do.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press and hold the buttons for three seconds, as the message says, and the panel releases. If it does not, try once more with a firm steady press rather than a tap, because a hurried press is the usual reason people conclude the lock is stuck. If the panel still will not release, the machine has a different problem and this message is not the explanation - look at whether the display responds at all, whether a numbered code is behind the INFO button, and report what you find rather than pressing harder. In a room where the lock is switched on as a matter of policy, the genuinely useful thing is a small notice by the machines saying how to release it, because this message is one of the most common reasons a perfectly healthy commercial dryer is reported as broken. Do not press the panel with a coin, a key or a tool to make the lock release - that is how a working panel becomes a faulty one, and there is a numbered code for that.

- If the panel does not release after a firm three-second press, the machine is reported rather than pressed with a coin or a tool, because that is how a working panel is damaged.
