What E30 Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the E-series belongs to the Asko Logic, Pro Home, Craft and Elements washers - models such as W2084, W4086, W6088X and the WM75 series. On these the display shows "Error" and the number; holding the INFO button brings up the description text, and EXIT returns to the main menu. The earlier W6xxx machines do not use E-codes at all; they show F10, F11 and F12, which are separate entries here.
WHICH MACHINES SPECIFICALLY: the Asko washers fitted with the Auto Dose System. A machine without the refillable detergent and softener containers does not have the hardware this code refers to.
WHAT E30 MEANS: the description text is "REED SWITCH 2 ERROR" - the second of the two magnetic sensors in the dosing system. Asko's published action is "Call a service technician", with no owner check in front of it.
THE PAIR: E29 and E30 are the same kind of fault on two different switches, and Asko does not publish which physical container each one watches. That is a real limit on what can be said here, and we would rather state it than guess.
WHAT IT DOES NOT AFFECT: the washing itself. The dosing system is how detergent gets into the machine automatically, not how the machine washes, so a load can still be run with detergent added by hand in the normal drawer.

Common Causes of E30
- Reed switch failed
- Container or cap not seated correctly
- Magnet displaced or missing from the container or cap
- Wiring or connector to the switch damaged
- Control unit not reading the switch
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There is no published owner check, so do the useful preliminaries rather than inventing a procedure. Make sure both Auto Dose containers are fully seated and their caps closed squarely, look for dried detergent around the necks and wipe it away, and note whether either container has been overfilled. Record when the fault started in relation to the last refill and whether the dosing has been visibly wrong - too much foam, no detergent reaching the wash, softener untouched. That history is what makes the visit efficient. Do not take the dispenser housing apart: it sits inside the front of the cabinet with its wiring in the machine's main loom, and reaching it means isolating the washer at the outlet or the breaker and removing panels.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Asko's published instruction for this code is to call a service technician; there is no owner procedure to follow.
- The dosing hardware shares the cabinet and the wiring loom with the mains supply, so it is not opened with the machine connected to power.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
