What E11 Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the E-series belongs to the Asko Logic, Pro Home, Craft and Elements washers - models such as W2084, W4086, W6088X and the WM75 series. On these the display shows "Error" and the number; holding the INFO button brings up the description text, and EXIT returns to the main menu. The earlier W6xxx machines do not use E-codes at all; they show F10, F11 and F12, which are separate entries here.
WHAT E11 MEANS: the description text is "OVERFLOW", given in full as "Water overflowing." Asko publishes two different outcomes for this code and the difference between them decides what you should do, so both are quoted here.
CASE ONE, THE MACHINE HANDLES IT: "If there is water in the drum that exceeds a certain level, and an error is reported on the display unit, the washing program will be interrupted and water will be pumped out of the washing machine. Restart the programme. If the error reoccurs, call a service technician."
CASE TWO, THE MACHINE DOES NOT: "If there is water in the drum that exceeds a certain level, and an error is reported on the display unit, while the washing machine continues to add water, close the water tap and call a service technician."
HOW TO TELL WHICH ONE YOU HAVE: watch the water. If the level is coming down, the machine is pumping out and managing the situation. If it is still rising, the machine is no longer in control of its own filling and the tap is the only thing that is.
CLASSIFICATION: fault, with an active water risk in case two.
Common Causes of E11
- Inlet valve passing water when it should be closed
- Water level sensor reporting a level lower than the real one
- Pressure hose to the level sensor blocked or split
- Drain path restricted so the level cannot be brought down
- Control unit not switching the inlet valve off
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If the machine is still taking on water, close the water tap. Do that immediately and before anything else, including before switching anything off - Asko's own instruction for that case is to close the tap and call a service technician, in that order, and the tap is the only control over the supply from outside the appliance. If the level is falling instead, the machine is pumping out as designed; let it finish, then restart the programme once, which is the published action for that case. Either way, look at the floor around and under the machine before you do anything else with it, because a washer that has overfilled may have put water where you cannot see it. Do not open the door to check the level while a cycle is running and do not try to empty the drum by hand through the door - the pump filter is the documented route, and only with the machine off at the outlet or the breaker and a tray underneath.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A machine that keeps filling is still connected to the mains supply, so the tap comes first - it is the only control outside the appliance and the manufacturer's instruction names it first.
- The inlet valve and level sensing are inside the cabinet next to the mains loom, and nothing there is adjustable by an owner.
- Opening the door on an overfilled drum puts the water on the floor, which is why the pump filter is the documented route and only with the power off.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
