What CLEAN DOOR FILTER Means
WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the current Asko professional dryer platform - the TD75.C17 series, which covers the TD75.C17X, the TDC177XV, the TDC177 series and the TDC1773VP.S. Unlike the older commercial dryers, these machines report numbered E-codes, and the manual states the mechanism plainly: in the event of a failure while a programme is in progress the relevant error is shown on the display, and pressing and holding the INFO button displays the error description. That INFO gesture is the most useful thing to know about this platform, because it turns a bare number into a sentence without any code list at all.
WHAT THIS PLATFORM IS NOT: the TDC33 and TDC44 commercial dryers do not use E-codes. They print plain-worded messages, and those are separate entries here. Do not read a meaning from one platform onto the other.
THE GAPS IN THE SEQUENCE ARE REAL: the failure table on this platform runs E0, E1, E2, E6, E7, E8, E9, E10 and E11. There is no E3, E4 or E5 in it. Nothing should be invented to fill those spaces.
WHAT THIS MESSAGE IS: one of the plain-worded messages this platform prints alongside its numbered codes. It is not a fault and there is no E-number behind it. The machine is asking for the single piece of maintenance that matters most on a tumble dryer.
WHY A DRYER ASKS FOR THIS AND NOTHING ELSE: because everything a dryer does depends on air moving through the drum, and the door filter is what that air goes through first. A filter carrying a layer of lint restricts the air, which makes cycles longer, makes the machine work harder and hotter, and eventually stops it altogether. On these commercial machines the manual for the older range is blunt about where that ends: a blocked filter trips the overheat protection and the machine stops.
WHY IT MATTERS MORE IN A COMMERCIAL ROOM THAN AT HOME: volume. A machine drying load after load all day fills a filter in hours rather than weeks, and in a room where nobody owns the machine it is the job that quietly does not get done. The prompt exists because Asko knows that.
WHAT IT IS NOT: not a fault, not a service call, and not something to dismiss and carry on with. It is the cheapest maintenance in the room and it prevents three of the more expensive messages on this site.

Common Causes of CLEAN DOOR FILTER
- Ordinary lint accumulation, which is what a dryer filter is for
- High load throughput in a commercial room
- Fabric softener or detergent residue clogging the mesh
- Filter put back damp, so it collects lint faster
- Filter not seated properly, letting lint pass into the housing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the machine cool before you open it, then take the door filter out and clean it properly rather than pulling the obvious mat off the surface: lint packs into the mesh and a filter that looks clean can still be half blocked, so clean it through and hold it up to the light to check. If it is greasy or stiff with fabric-softener residue, wash it in warm water and dry it completely before it goes back - a damp filter collects lint faster than a dry one. Put it back seated properly, because a filter not sitting home lets lint past it into the fan housing, which is a far worse job to clean. While the machine is cool and open, look into the filter housing itself and clear what has collected there. Then set an interval and stick to it: in commercial use that means every few loads rather than when the message appears, and the message becomes a check on the routine rather than the reason for it. Nothing here needs tools, and nothing here needs the machine opened up beyond the filter the manufacturer intends you to remove.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- None - cleaning the door filter is the maintenance the manufacturer asks the operator to do, and the machine is simply left to cool first.
- If lint has already passed a badly seated filter into the fan housing, that cleaning is a deeper job on a machine isolated at its breaker or wall isolator.
