What CYCLE INTERRUPTED BY POWER FAILURE Means

WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: the TD75 machines, sold as the T408HD and the T608HX. The message belongs to the information table in the section Asko heads "INFORMATION before, during, and after the program (depending on the model)".

WHAT ASKO PRINTS AS THE ACTION: "Press the Start/Pause button to restart or resume the program." The machine is not reporting damage. It is reporting that the supply went away while a programme was running, and offering to carry on.

WHAT THE MACHINE DID WHILE THE POWER WAS OFF: it held the state of the programme in memory. When the supply came back it did not simply start again from the beginning, and it did not pretend the interruption had not happened. It stopped, waited, and told you.

WHY THE MESSAGE APPEARS WHEN NOBODY NOTICED A POWER CUT: interruptions do not have to be long enough for anyone to see. A brief dip during a storm, a breaker nudged during other work, a plug that is not gripping properly in a worn outlet, or a supply leg lost momentarily can all be enough. A machine that reports this repeatedly without any household-wide power cut is reporting something about its own supply rather than about the grid.

WHAT TO MAKE OF IT IF IT HAPPENS ONCE: nothing at all beyond pressing start. If it happens regularly, the supply to the machine is worth investigating, because an intermittent connection at an outlet or a breaker heats up where it is loose.

CLASSIFICATION: normal recovery behaviour. It becomes worth attention only when it repeats.

Common Causes of CYCLE INTERRUPTED BY POWER FAILURE

  • Genuine interruption of the household supply during the programme
  • Breaker for the dryer circuit tripped or knocked during other work
  • Plug not fully home, or an outlet whose contacts are worn and no longer gripping
  • Loose connection at the outlet, the breaker or in the cord
  • One supply leg momentarily lost on a 240-volt circuit

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Press Start or Pause as the manual says, and the programme resumes. If the load is part dried and you would rather start again, cancel and select a fresh programme; there is nothing wrong with either choice. The more useful work only applies if this keeps happening. Note whether anything else in the house lost power at the same time - clocks, other appliances, lights flickering - because a household-wide interruption is a supply matter outside the machine. If nothing else was affected, look at the dryer's own supply. Check the plug is fully home in its outlet and that neither the plug nor the outlet feels warm to the touch, and check the breaker for the dryer circuit at the panel. A loose connection at an outlet or a breaker heats where it is loose, and warmth at either is a reason to stop using the circuit and have it looked at rather than a reason to push the plug in harder. Do not open the outlet or the breaker panel yourself, and do not change the plug or the cord on a dryer of this size; those circuits carry far more current than a general-purpose socket and they are an electrician's work.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • An outlet or a plug that feels warm is reporting a loose connection under load, and the correct response is to stop using the circuit and call an electrician rather than to reseat the plug and carry on.
  • The outlet, the cord and the breaker for a dryer circuit carry far more current than a general socket, so none of them is opened, replaced or rewired by an owner.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

CYCLE INTERRUPTED BY POWER FAILURE FAQ

It is unlikely to be wrong, but the interruption can be far too brief to notice. A dip of a fraction of a second is enough for the control to lose its supply and act on it, and nothing else in the house may react at all.

Yes. The machine kept the state of the programme and Asko's own instruction is to press Start or Pause to resume. Starting a fresh programme instead is equally fine if you would rather.
