What H7 Means

WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: H7 is printed only for the gas models in the TLS752 XXL family - the TLS752GXXL and the TLS752 GXXLRR. The electric machines in the family do not use it.

WHAT H7 MEANS: the TLS752 XXL operating instructions list H7 under gas models as "Gas valve or gas valve blockage problem". The remedy Asko prints against it is unusual for this table because it is an owner check rather than a service call: "check gas supply at connection points."

WHAT THAT INSTRUCTION IS ACTUALLY ASKING: it is asking whether the gas is getting to the machine at all. A gas dryer has a shut-off valve on its supply line, and that valve gets closed - during other work in the laundry, after an installation, after a move, sometimes by someone checking something else. A closed or partly closed shut-off valve produces exactly this code, and it is the one cause on this page that an owner can find by looking.

WHAT THE GAS VALVE IN THE MACHINE DOES: it is the valve the control opens to admit gas to the burner, and it opens only in the correct sequence and only while the flame is confirmed. If the control commands it and the expected result does not follow, or if gas is not arriving to be admitted, the machine stops and reports it.

WHY THE SEVERITY HERE IS HIGH DESPITE THE OWNER CHECK: the check is looking at a shut-off valve handle and the visible run of the supply line. Everything past that point is the gas train of an appliance, and there is no owner procedure for any of it.

HOW THE MACHINE TELLS YOU: the family reports errors by buzzing for ten seconds every ten minutes, and the display clears when the power is switched off and on. A cleared display is not a cleared problem.

CLASSIFICATION: problem on a gas appliance, with one documented owner check at the front of it and nothing behind that check.

Common Causes of H7

  • Gas shut-off valve on the supply line to the dryer closed or only partly open
  • Supply interrupted upstream, which usually affects other gas appliances as well
  • Flexible gas connector kinked or restricted
  • Gas valve in the machine failed or not opening on command
  • Blockage in the gas train, which is the second half of the printed problem name
  • Wiring or control problem on the circuit that operates the valve

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Do exactly what Asko prints and nothing beyond it. Switch the dryer off at the wall or the breaker first. Then find the gas shut-off valve on the supply line to the machine and look at whether it is open - on a common lever valve, the handle in line with the pipe is open and across the pipe is closed. If it is closed or part closed, open it fully by hand and nothing more. Look along the visible run of the flexible connector for a kink or a crushed section, and check whether any other gas appliance in the house has also stopped working, because that points at the supply rather than at the dryer. If a whole-house shut-off has been closed, that is a matter for whoever closed it. That is the end of it. Do not put a wrench on any fitting, do not disconnect the flexible connector, do not move the machine to see behind it, and do not test for leaks with anything other than the leak-detection solution a gas fitter uses. If you smell gas at any point, do not touch any switch, leave the room and the building, and call the gas utility emergency line from outside before you call anyone about the dryer. If the shut-off valve was already fully open, the problem is inside the machine's gas train and it needs a technician who works on gas appliances.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Everything past the shut-off valve handle is a threaded or flared gas fitting, and gas fittings are not loosened, tightened or reseated by an owner under any circumstances.
  • Moving the machine to reach the back flexes the gas connector, which is the part least tolerant of being flexed and the one whose damage is hardest to see.
  • The burner, the igniter and the gas valve share a compartment with mains wiring, so it is not an enclosure to open even with the power off.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

H7 FAQ

Because the most common cause is outside the machine and needs no tools. A shut-off valve that has been closed during other work produces this code, and opening it by hand is the whole fix. The instruction stops there deliberately.

The supply reaching the machine, and then the machine's own gas valve and the passages after it. Neither of those is an owner check, and both belong to a technician who works on gas appliances.
