What F30 Means

WHICH MACHINES THIS APPLIES TO: F30 is a TD70-platform code on the numeric-display panel the service manual calls panel type B. It is one of the four codes that panel can show. Other Asko dryer families report their own time limit differently - the TD60 and the US T731 and T741 use F2, and their limit is three hours rather than 200 minutes - so the figure on this page belongs to the TD70 platform and should not be carried across.

WHAT F30 MEANS: the service manual's cause column reads "The program cycle time exceeds 200 minutes. The cycle is stopped and the program is reset." Nothing has failed a test. The machine has simply run for as long as it is allowed to run without the load reaching the dryness the program asked for, and it has stopped rather than run indefinitely.

THE TWO FURTHER CAUSES ASKO PRINTS, AND THEY ARE BOTH ABOUT THE ROOM: "High ambient temperature combined with low heater output and low drying temperature leads to poor condensation formation." And: "Poor condensation due to blocked external air." A condensing dryer takes the moisture out of the air by cooling it, and it does that cooling with air from the room. If the room is already warm, or if the machine cannot draw room air freely because it is boxed in or its intake is obstructed, the cooling gets worse, less water comes out of the air on each pass, and the load takes longer than the machine is allowed to take.

THE CUSTOMER CHECKS ASKO PRINTS, QUOTED: "Tried spinning at a higher speed." / "Had the machine switched off for 30 minutes before restarting." / "Good ventilation in the room." All three are owner actions and all three are about getting the load and the room into a state the machine can work with.

THE SERVICE ACTION ASKO PRINTS: "Ensure that the external air has free passage." Even the technician entry for this code is about airflow rather than about a part.

HOW THE FAULT INDICATION IS CLEARED: "After carrying out corrective actions as above, reset the problem indication on the display by switching off the machine at the main power switch."

CLASSIFICATION: normal protective behavior and an installation matter. This is the machine reporting conditions, not reporting damage.

Common Causes of F30

  • Load put in far too wet because it was spun at a low speed
  • Room too warm or too confined for the machine to condense properly
  • External air path to the machine obstructed, which the manual names as the service action
  • Lint filter, condenser or evaporator filters blocked, costing drying time every cycle
  • Load too large for the program selected
  • Heater output low, which the manual pairs with high ambient temperature as a combined cause

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Work through Asko's own three checks in order, because they are genuinely the likely answers. First the load: put it back in the washer and spin it again at the highest speed the fabric allows, because water the washer removes is water the dryer does not have to boil off, and a poorly spun load is the single most common reason a cycle runs out of time. Second the machine: leave it switched off for thirty minutes, which is Asko's own instruction, so the cabinet and the air around it come back down before you try again - restarting immediately just resumes the conditions that caused the stop. Third the room: a condensing dryer in a small closed utility room, a cupboard or a sealed laundry heats its own surroundings as it runs, and then cannot cool anything. Open a door or a window, or improve the ventilation of the space, and compare. Check too that nothing is blocking the air intake at the base or rear of the machine and that there is clearance around it. While the machine is cool, clean the lint filter and the condenser or evaporator filters according to your own manual, since blocked filters cost drying time on every cycle. If a well-spun, modest load in a ventilated room with clean filters still cannot finish inside 200 minutes, the heating side is under-performing and that is where the owner checks end.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Everything on Asko customer list is done with the machine switched off and cool, including the thirty-minute rest the manual asks for.
  • Filters and the condenser are cleaned only after the machine has cooled, because the housing and the air path behind them stay hot at the end of a long cycle.
  • If the checks above do not fix it, the remaining possibility is the heating side, which sits behind panels carrying mains voltage and is not an owner check.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

F30 FAQ

Because the stop is often caused by heat the machine has put into its own surroundings. Starting again straight away puts it back into the warm air it just created, and the second cycle goes the same way as the first. The rest lets the room and the cabinet recover.

That usually means the cycle is close to finishing but not quite getting there, so the cheapest fixes are the ones that buy time back: a higher spin speed before drying, a smaller load, clean filters and cooler air around the machine.
